Scope of the Project
- Main Alignment.
- Interchanges – Grade separated junctions will be constructed at the start of the road at Kibwezi and at Kitui Town where the project road connects with the existing road from Machakos into Kitui.
- Service and/or Access Roads – There are no service roads under the Contract.
- Town Roads.
- Roadside Amenities.
- Infrastructure – The Contract provides for construction of two heavy vehicle parking areas including roadside amenities at both Kibwezi and Kitui.
- Source of Finance – The project is funded by the Export Import Bank of China and the Government of the Republic of Kenya.
Description of the Project
The Government of the Republic Kenya, through its implementing agency, the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has engaged the services of a Consultancy Firm to undertake Design Review and Construction Supervision of upgrading to bitumen standard of the Kibwezi-MutomoKitui-Kabati-Migwani (A9/B64) Road in the Eastern Region of Kenya.
It is about 192 km long including 18 km of Township Roads and traverses Makueni and Kitui Counties.
